Upset’ boy, 12, vanishes with no shoes on as concerns grow for his safety

The Met Police say Leopold Bennet-Budkinov was wearing a blue stripy t-shirt, army-style camouflaged trousers and no footwear when he went missing on Sunday in Brent, north west London

Police have launched an urgent appeal for a 12-year-old boy who has gone missing for a second time inside five months.

The force say they are growing concerned for Leopold Bennet-Budkinov, who was last seen on Sunday afternoon in Kilburn, Brent.

The boy had no shoes on when he disappeared at the weekend – and was ‘upset’ at the time he vanished.

He went missing back in April before being found safe and well days later.

But police say they are worried and have urged the public to look out for him in north west London areas in particular.

A Met statement read: “Police are appealing for the public’s help to find a missing 12-year-old boy from Brent.

“Leopold Bennet-Budkinov was last seen at 16:00hrs on Sunday, 1 August at his home address in Kilburn, Brent.

“Leopold is black, 4ft 8ins of slim build with black hair.

“At the time of his disappearance he was wearing a blue stripy long sleeved t-shirt and army style camouflaged trousers and no footwear.

“He is known to frequent the Kilburn and Paddington areas; particularly recreation grounds.

“Leopold was upset at the time of his disappearance and did not have money, a phone or any means of getting around.

“Officers are increasingly concerned for his wellbeing and would urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to call police on 101 quoting CAD 7241/01Aug.

“Or contact Missing People on 116000.”

The search comes after police in Sheffield appealed for help tracing a 14-year-old girl who has been missing since Thursday.

The teenager, named Ava, was last seen at around 3pm in the Woodhouse area of the city.

Her family is becoming increasingly worried about her welfare, South Yorkshire Police said.

Ava, whose last name has not been released, is around 5ft 9ins, mixed-race and medium build, with dark hair.

They said: “Police in Sheffield are asking for your help to find missing 14-year-old Ava.

“Ava was last seen in the Woodhouse area at around 3pm on Thursday 29 July.

“She has not been seen or heard from since and her family and officers are growing concerned for her welfare.

“She is described as mixed-race, around 5ft 9ins with a medium build and dark hair. Have you seen Ava?

“If you think you know where she might be, please call 101 quoting incident number 938 of 29 July.”
